Scientific Software Engineer or Developer

S[&]T is always on the lookout for scientific software developers, i.e. software engineers with experience in the development of software for scientific data processing or scientists with solid experience in software development. Working this role you will get the opportunity to work on high-profile science and space projects in a team of top engineers and scientists. Here are some of the requirements for this role:

  • You have completed a technical education at university level, preferably Master or PhD.

  • You have experience in software (pipe-line) development for data analysis for scientific instruments.

  • You have a strong knowledge of any or multiple of the following programming and scripting languages: C/C++, Fortran, Java, Perl, Python.

  • You are familiar or have experience with Web-based applications (servlets, JSPs, AJAX) and application frameworks (e.g. ZK, GWT, Spring, Grails)

  • You are familiar with common software development methodologies and practices e.g. CVS, SVN, GNU, UML, IDE-based development; knowledge or experience with the ESA ECSS system (or similar) is preferred.

  • Experience in the whole software cycle design: analysis, design, coding, documentation, testing, deployment/implementation and maintenance.

  • You have a strong analytical capacity.

  • You have an affinity for data- and information management.
