We are currently looking for a Process Engineer to join the team in Enschede.

As a Process Engineer, you will be working at a leading R&D institute dedicated to accelerating the adoption of integrated photonics. Its mission is to bridge the gap between research and commercialization, addressing significant societal challenges through applications such as road safety, health monitoring, energy-efficient data handling, and secure communications.

At the R&D institute in Enschede, you’ll be part of a dedicated team focused on developing, optimizing, and managing the fabrication and integration processes for photonic integrated circuits. This includes creating low-loss optical waveguides and ultra-low loss modulators on SiN for quantum and microwave photonics applications, ensuring that processes are efficient, cost-effective, and produce high-quality products that meet customer specifications.

Process Engineer

Main responsibilities 

In this position, you will:

  • Innovate silicon nitride photonic chip technologies to enable efficient and cost-effective integration with various photonic platforms, particularly InP photonic chips. This may include developing specific features like vertical alignment stops for easier alignment or creating nanostructures to minimize optical coupling losses.
  • Collaborate with specialists from the University of Twente and experts in Eindhoven and Nijmegen, playing a key role in shaping roadmaps for photonic integration and packaging.
  • Apply your expertise and take initiative in active collaborative projects with both local and international clients.


Requirements

  • Master's degree in Applied Physics, Nanoscience, or a related field, with extensive knowledge of thin-film deposition and photolithographic patterning.
  • Over 4 years of experience in technology development, ideally within an industrial cleanroom environment.
  • Proactive and responsible, with the ability to efficiently organize and collaborate on practical tasks.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
