We are currently looking for a Solution Architect ECM-Edtech to join the team in Delft.

We are seeking a (freelance) Solution Architect for Enterprise Content Management/Educational Tooling to lead a project aimed at replacing an outdated platform for storing and sharing educational materials. The project is in the early "discovery & design" phase, where requirements will be defined, potential solution architectures will be explored, and recommendations will be made for the most suitable solution. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the chosen architecture meets functional and non-functional needs.

Solution Architect 

Main responsibilities 

  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Provide input on the project’s architectural framework, based on the identified requirements.
  • Identify potential IT components and suppliers capable of meeting the project's needs.
  • Participate in discussions and contribute to the preparation of RFIs and RFPs to gather more detailed information about the components and suppliers.
  • Conduct fit-gap analyses to evaluate how well selected components meet the required functionality and other criteria.
  • Develop and assess solution architectures based on feasibility, benefits, costs, and risks, in collaboration with the project team.
  • Offer recommendations for solution architecture, taking into account practicality, advantages, and follow-up actions.
  • Draft architectural principles and guidelines for the solution’s implementation.


Requirements

  • University-level thinking and working capacity.
  • At least 5 years of experience translating requirements into possible solution architectures.
  • Strong understanding of learning content management systems, educational applications (EdTech), and content management systems. Familiarity with SURF components like Surfsharekit or Edusources is a plus.
  • Knowledge of custom software development for component integration (ESB, SOAP) and user interface development.
  • Ability to evaluate and advise on different solution architectures, focusing on functionality, risks, costs, and sourcing.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring that each requirement is fully addressed in the solution architecture.
  • Experience in developing project start architectures and solution architecture documents.
  • Team collaboration skills, especially in working with business analysts.
  • Experience in higher education reference architecture and TOGAF certification is an advantage.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
