Advancing Italy’s Ambitious IRIDE Space Program with Cutting-Edge Solutions

"S[&]T provides a specialized solution that give operators of multi-purpose constellations insight in the operational effectiveness of their ground segment."

Background

Italy’s National IRIDE earth observation program: Initiative to designed to deploy a versatile constellation of approximately 12 SAR satellites, alongside 25 additional multi-spectral and hyperspectral satellites. These satellites will be complemented by an advanced ground segment and a comprehensive suite of services to address critical environmental and security challenges.

The Problem

S[&]T was tasked by ESA and ASI with addressing two primary challenges:

• Developing and integrating monitoring solutions: Ensuring the quality and reliability of the data produced by the IRIDE satellite constellation, while addressing the needs of diverse stakeholders

• Enhancing operational efficiency: Providing end-users with the tools to monitor system performance and ensure real-time insights into environmental and security applications

The Solution

To meet these challenges, S[&]T is currently providing central monitoring systems and tools such as Horus and the Air Quality service AIR-Portal. These solutions provide continuous and on-demand insights into data quality and system performance for the IRIDE constellation

Key features:

• Quality assurance: Comprehensive reporting of delivered quality of service and real-time alarms when thresholds are exceeded

• Customizable monitoring: Adaptable solutions tailored to address various application needs within environmental monitoring, public safety and security

• Stakeholder insights: Detailed insights into system performance, enabling operators and stakeholders to ensure consistent and actionable data

• Scalable architecture: Leveraged cloud technologies to enhance scalability for future needs

S[&]T's Role

S[&]T provides a specialized solution that give operators of multi-purpose constellations insight in the operational effectiveness of their ground segment, this includes:

• Improving environmental monitoring and response capabilities

• Providing accurate, timely and accessible data to support sustainability and public safety initiatives

•  Ensuring operational efficiency and accountability across the IRIDE mission

This way, S&T bridged the gap between technical complexity and operational effectiveness within the IRIDE program
