We are currently looking for a (freelance) IT Asset Manager to join the team in Delft.

We are currently looking for a (freelance) experienced IT Asset Manager with expertise in ITIL processes, including Change, Incident, and Problem Managemen. In this role, you will take the lead as a project manager in further developing IT asset management and the associated Configuration Management Database (CMDB) across and beyond the IT department in a leading higher education organization. You will be part of the IT Asset Management (ITAM) team within the IT Service Management division, working alongside asset management professionals, software asset managers, and process support specialists. You will take over responsibilities from the current process manager/project manager, ensuring a seamless transition and continued optimization of IT asset management practices.

This is a 7-month contract ideally starting in mid-April, for 32 hours per week, with the possibility of extension afterwards.

IT Asset Manager 

Main responsibilities 

  • Assess and map the current state and future needs of IT asset management and CMDB.
  • Define and align architecture principles in collaboration with Security, Privacy, and Architecture (SPA) teams.
  • Develop and implement asset management processes and CMDB, including necessary documentation and procedures.
  • Promote and integrate these processes within the IT department and across faculties.
  • Ensure alignment with existing ITIL processes, such as Change, Incident, and Problem Management.
  • Lead projects related to IT asset management and CMDB as a project manager.
  • Define and document roles and responsibilities within the asset management framework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree level (HBO) education and thinking capacity.
  • ITIL4 certification is required.
  • Prince2 certification is required.
  • Proven experience in Service Management and Service Management tools, preferably TOPdesk.
  • Strong track record in setting up IT asset management and CMDB systems.
  • Experience with asset and CMDB tooling and automation.
  • Familiarity with complex IT landscapes and architectures.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in Dutch and English.
  • A structured, detail-oriented, and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a coaching and connecting attitude.
