As an IT Networking & RF Engineer, you will be in charge of developing, implementing, and maintaining wireless communication and network infrastructures for unmanned systems and C5ISR components. Your role involves working with tactical communication systems, RF link integrations, software-defined radios (SDR), and high-performance networks designed to function in challenging conditions.

IT Networking & RF Engineer

Main responsibilities 


  • Design, set up, and administer IT networks (LAN/WAN/VPN, SD-WAN, Mesh networks) tailored for advanced sensor networks and unmanned systems.
  • Develop and refine RF communication solutions to support both short- and long-range data transmission.
  • Integrate software-defined radios (SDR) and signal processing tools for applications in both military and civilian sectors.
  • Conduct frequency planning, spectrum analysis, and interference assessments to establish secure and stable connections.
  • Deploy cybersecurity measures to guarantee safe and reliable communication.
  • Assist in testing, evaluation, and experimentation of innovative network and communication technologies.
  • Maintain documentation for system architectures and network setups.

 


Requirements


  • HBO/WO degree in Electrical Engineering, ICT, Network Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in IT networking and/or RF communications.
  • Proficiency in network technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, SD-WAN, VPN, VLAN, and QoS.
  • Experience with RF systems and radio frequency technologies (VHF/UHF, SDR, LTE, SATCOM—basic understanding).
  • Knowledge of network security and encryption solutions.
  • Practical experience with Wireshark, SDR software, spectrum analyzers, and RF testing tools; familiarity with MATLAB is a plus.
  • Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools such as Jenkins, Salt, CloudInit, Ansible or API Glue Logic is a nice-to-have.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally once every month.
  • You are eager to work in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
  • A good command of the English language is mandatory. Dutch, German and French are an advantage.
  • While Hybrid work is possible, during the onboarding you will be requested to be 100% on-site. After that, one day per week online would be possible.
