We are currently looking for a Project Leader to join the team in Delft.
As a Project Leader, you will drive the development of optical solutions aimed at creating a healthier, safer, more sustainable, and digital world.
You will oversee the design and production of advanced optical systems for a variety of applications, including space-based atmospheric monitoring, optical satellite communication, medical devices, quantum technologies, structural health monitoring, and semiconductor industry instrumentation. Your projects will support a wide range of clients, including industry leaders like Airbus, NASA, ESA, Rijkswaterstaat, and various SMEs, and will contribute to key initiatives such as the Sentinel 5 global air quality monitoring satellite and ITER.

Project Leader
Main responsibilities
As a Project Leader in the Optics department, you will oversee the development and realization of optical systems, ranging from large-scale telescopes to compact photonic integrated circuits (PICs) on microchips. You will collaborate with business development teams to secure new projects and ensure successful execution by delivering high-quality results on time and within budget, all while fostering a positive team environment and prioritizing the wellbeing of team members. During project implementation, you will work closely with a diverse team of 60 optics specialists, as well as colleagues from other departments across the organization.
Requirements
As a project leader, you will manage multiple projects within the Optics department. To excel in this role, the following qualifications are essential:
- A background in applied physics, chemistry, materials science, or engineering, at least at a Bachelor's level
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a project leader in the high-tech industry
- A strong interest in optics technology and the optics industry
- The ability to understand and anticipate the customer’s needs, translating them into actionable steps for yourself and your team
- A proven ability to inspire and lead a team of technical experts toward achieving outstanding results
- The capability to remain composed in a fast-paced environment, work methodically, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
