We are looking for a Scientific Software Engineer to join the team in The Hague. 

As a Scientific Software Engineer, you will work on projects related to predicting and reducing the signature (visibility) of naval vessels, both overwater (radar, infrared, and RF) and underwater (magnetic and electrical. You will act as a bridge between the scientific and software engineering domains, working primarily with C++, as well as MATLAB, Python, and Fortran.

Scientific Software Engineer

Main responsibilities  

  • You will work with C++, MATLAB, Python, and Fortran models
  • Your work will range from programming the models to integrating them onboard Dutch naval vessels
  • The actual modelling is usually done by other team members 


Requirements 

  • You have a degree in Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, or a relevant discipline
  • You have experience with scientific software and numerical mathematics
  • You have experience with parallelization
  • You are proficient in C++, Python, MATLAB, and Fortran
  • You know how to develop software for both Windows and Linux environments
  • You are independent and dare to take responsibility 
  • You are result-driven 
  • You are used to working in multidisciplinary environments and can switch quickly
  • Experience with Docker, GitLab/GitLab runners and GPUs is an advantage
  • You have strong communication skills
  •  Fluency, both written and spoken, in English and Dutch
