We are currently looking for a Senior Information Analyst to join the team in Utrecht.

The Netherlands' subsurface is undergoing significant changes, including land subsidence, groundwater salinization, and resource extraction. Additionally, the subsurface plays a crucial role in the energy transition, from geothermal energy extraction to repurposing former natural gas fields and salt caverns. As an Information Analyst at the Geological Survey of the Netherlands (GDN), you will work at the intersection of earth science research and practical solutions.

Senior Information Analyst

Main responsibilities
In 2025, the digital transformation of GDN will accelerate, and you will play a key role in this process. Your responsibilities include:
- Mapping primary processes and related information needs within GDN’s various operational chains.
- Developing (conceptual) information models based on these information needs.
- Providing structured analyses and models to DevOps teams, enabling them to build applications, databases, and web services.
- Collaborating on data migration projects, utilizing your developed models and analyses.
- Working with government data standards and national data registries.
- Engaging with colleagues across different teams, such as architects, fellow information analysts, and domain experts.
- Contributing to harmonization and standardization of GDN’s data landscape.
- Supporting data migration and harmonization efforts to ensure accessibility for internal and external researchers.
- Scoping and leading projects while mentoring junior and medior colleagues.
You will be part of the Analysis Team within the GeoData & Information Management research group. The team consists of highly skilled experts in IT and geosciences, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements
We are looking for a driven professional who enjoys working with complex (geo)data standards and developing models in close collaboration with experts. Strong communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail are essential for effectively mapping processes and defining standards.
Must-have qualifications:
- A bachelor’s (HBO) or master’s degree in business informatics, geology, geography, hydrology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as an information analyst.
- Expertise in semantic, logical, and physical data modeling.
- Knowledge of metadata and master data.
- Experience with various modelling and interview techniques.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English is preferred.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Fact-Based Modelling.
- Familiarity with modelling standards like MIM (Metadata Information Model).
- Ability to mentor colleagues and ensure projects are successfully completed.
