We are currently looking for a System Engineer to join the team in the Leiden Area.
We are looking for a System Engineer to join an innovative engineering team specializing in high-tech motion control solutions. In this role, you will work on advanced mechatronic systems for applications in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial testing. You will contribute to the development, integration, and optimization of complex systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design cutting-edge solutions that meet customer and industry requirements.
You will play a key role in both customer-specific development projects and new technology initiatives, ensuring system performance, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and seamless integration of hardware and software components. System Engineer

Main responsibilities
- Develop and implement high-performance motion control and test systems for diverse applications.
- Design system architectures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Apply modelling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink) to validate system behavior.
- Conduct risk assessments, including Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Requirements Management, to improve system reliability.
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and electronics engineers to create integrated solutions.
- Support assembly, commissioning, and testing of systems at in-house and customer locations.
- Act as a technical representative, maintaining close contact with customers throughout development and implementation.
- Provide comprehensive system documentation and support on-site validation and acceptance testing.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites in Europe
to oversee system installation and commissioning.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Aeronautical, Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechatronic system development.
- Proficiency in modelling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink).
- Ability to work independently and take a leading role in customer and development projects.
- Knowledge of system safety regulations, professional requirements management, and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Dutch or German is a plus.
- Openness to occasional travel for customer support and on-site implementation.
